AI as Cognitive Partner
Personal Note
Think about it: your brain just powered through an entire creative storm, but your professor still can’t quite see the progress you’ve made. What if there were clues hidden in your prompt history? Could patterns in those prompts reveal when a student is engaging critically with AI? Or when they’re connecting on a more emotional level?
As homogeneity of output becomes a concerning issue, the question arises: Are we truly over-reliant on AI? Or is it context-dependent? We need new angles to look at AI's role in creativity. More importantly, is it possible to design new metrics that can capture students’ engagement and growth?
In this study, we collected students' prompt histories as well as their think-aloud comments, trying to piece together what really went through their heads during complex creative tasks in a college classroom.
This project is still work in progress. Please reach out if you are interested.
